ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Christmas Presence is Jim Timonere’s first published work.  It was written in November of 1991 when Jim was confined to a solitary jail cell after losing a bitterly fought criminal trial where he failed to prove his innocence.  Prior to his conviction, Jim had been a lawyer, politician, and a family man.  His accuser was a client and family friend who twisted an innocent enterprise into a conspiracy he conceived.  After being caught red-handed, the accuser implicated his lawyer and others to stay out of prison.

After almost seven years of incarceration, Jim was alone, had lost his license to practice law, and was forced to rebuild his life from nothing.  Christmas Presence has travelled with him through all of this.  Those who read it over the years find Christmas Presence to be a moving emotional experience.  Some families read the poem together every year on Christmas Eve to remind themselves that many miracles are just simple acts performed by kind people.

In 2017, Jim wrote a short novel, The Present from Christmas Past, which is available on Amazon Books and Kindle.  He is currently working on a revised edition of this book, a new novel and a Book of his poetry and photographs.

Jim now lives with his wife, Jane, in his hometown of Ashtabula, Ohio where he works as a paralegal in Jane’s law practice.  Between them, Jim and Jane have six children, ten grandchildren, and one great grandchild.  The Timoneres like to travel when they can take time away from Jane’s practice.  They hope one day to retire to Lake Tahoe.

Christmas is a time of joy, but many people suffer through the holiday forgotten and alone.  Christmas Presence tells the story of some of these folks and how the timely kindness of ordinary people redeems Christmas for them all.
