Present From Christmas Past

Jim and Katie Helms have reached the end of a short marriage made contentious by their unmet expectations of what the marriage should have been. They are driving through an impassible Christmas Eve blizzard to their final separation when the weather stops them. On an isolated back road they see Christmas lights on a farmhouse where a pleasant old man named Ethan takes them in for the night. Helms and Katie call a truce for the sake of their host, but their resolve to end their marriage is firm. Then Helms has a midnight discussion with Ethan and learns a secret Ethan has hidden for many years. Helms may have changed in the face of this truth, but it will take something more powerful to save their marriage.

Have your Christmas spirit and faith in marriage bolstered by this inspirational “happily ever after” Christmas novel about atonement and reconciliation.

Christmas Presence

Christmas Presence is a narrative poem which tells the sad story of forgotten people trying to survive Christmas.  A bag lady, street girl, mail carrier, single mom, business owner, and an abandoned woman in a nursing home all suffer the prospect of being alone at Christmas unless a miracle can change their lives.  The “miracles” they experience turn out to be the simple acts of kindhearted people.  Each beautifully illustrated story takes the reader on a journey from hopelessness to redemption proving that the best Christmas present we can share is our caring presence in the life of some forgotten soul.

Jim Timonere wrote Christmas Presence over 20 years ago at the lowest point in his life.  Since then he has shared the poem with thousands of people, some of whom read it together every Christmas Eve.  This revised publication and wonderful new artwork enhance the stories and enforce the message that “the greatest presents we can give are gifts of precious time.”
